Rick Davis

Rick Davis, musician, conductor, composer, arranger and jazz educator, was featured in many famous big bands, jazz groups and Las Vegas showrooms and in concerts and colleges, and is acclaimed for his wonderful jazz facility and tone on the tenor sax among his myriad other musical talents. His career spanned the Big Band and bebop eras to the "Golden Years" of Las Vegas. Among many others, he wrote and arranged music for stars like Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Williams, Jack Benny and Buddy Rich, was on the bands of Woody Herman and Jimmy Dorsey, Louie Bellson, and Maynard Ferguson and was on the orchestras of CBS and the Merv Griffin Show. He recorded albums of big bands to avant-garde jazz and owned a recording studio and music service, while working in Las Vegas showrooms and lounges for every imaginable headliner, teaching in the music department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and doing popular concerts of his own original music. He is now retired and living on the Oregon coast, and continues to write music for symphonies, big bands and other projects.
